Rockford Rocks! (and Belvidere too)

This is a morning of thank-you’s.  This weekend, I had the pleasure of conducting a workshop based on my book Empty Nest Egg: Why You Must Start Your Own Business NOW.  We met at the Stockholm Inn in Rockford, and let me tell you, those folks make a mean Swedish pancake.  If you ever need to schedule a meeting in Rockford, they have the best setup for groups I have ever seen in a restaurant and the wait staff is second to none.

Jane Carrell of the Northern Illinois Tea Party did all the leg work in getting this event done.  I may invite her to become my full-time PR person.  Jane did a wonderful job of finding people who wanted to learn why their retirements are in danger and what they can do about it.  The crowd was absolutely terrific and asked some great questions.

Thanks also to Bill Villont and Bob Kopp of BNNS Internet Radio for interviewing me Friday evening.  The program is available here.  Both Bill and Bob were gracious hosts, and I found Bob Kopp to be almost as crazy as I am.  The good kind of crazy…  Here’s a big shout-out for some guys who are doing their share to promote liberty.

This nation is full of good people.  When I looked out into the crowd Saturday morning, I saw honest, enterprising souls who were full of questions about why their country seemed to be slouching toward the edge of a great precipice.  Some owned their own business, but most had worked for years at one type of job or another only to find themselves financially strapped as they enter what should be their golden years.  Some were still in mid-career, but had started to see the writing on the wall.  We even had two young men in the crowd, brought by parents who wanted their kids to be ready for the coming upheaval.

These people don’t want a handout, just the freedom to prosper.  They see after years of honest work how the government has lied about Social Security and Medicare.  They are watching as money they contributed their entire working lives is squandered, fiat money is pumped into a lifeless economic system, and stupid government programs are piled on top of broken ones.

I came away with a renewed sense of my mission.  I want to educate people in the foundations of liberty.  I want them to know that they have everything they need to start a business that can help them not only to survive, but to prosper in the coming years.

If you are reading this blog and know of a group of people who need to hear this message, e-mail me now.  I can help.
